Installation
First time CyanogenMod 14.1 installation on your Xiaomi Mi4:

• Read the official Wiki page
• Unlock your bootloader if you haven't done so already
• Flash a custom recovery via Fastboot
• Push GApps (arm) and the CM 14.1 zip to your device
• Boot into Recovery
• Perform factory reset
• Flash the CM 14.1 zip from SD card
• Flash GApps from SD card
• Reboot

Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod (even from 13.0 and 12.1) :

• Push the new CM 14.1 zip to your SD card
• Boot into Recovery
• Flash the CM 14.1 zip from SD card
• Flash the most recent GApps for 7.1 if you are upgrading from earlier android version
• Reboot

Reporting bugs

• DO NOT report bugs if you're running a custom kernel
• DO NOT report bugs if you've modifies system files
• DO NOT report bugs if you've installed xposed and/or other mods
• Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
• If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
• If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log

F.A.Q.

• I get error 7 while flashing this rom, what does it mean?
• Read what the recovery says: "You're running on an unsupported (Kitkat) baseband". In order to flash the lastest CM builds you must have Miui MM baseband and partition layout installed. Visit http://bit.ly/cancroCMBaseband to learn how to update these
• ROOT! ROOT! Give me root or i'll die!!! Where root is???
• First of all DO NOT flash any SuperSu/SuperUser/SuperMan zip package to get root. Go to Settings>Developement Settings>Root access and select "Apps Only"
• Why no nightly today?
• Build failed. Check again tomorrow
• When do I have to wipe data?
• You must wipe data only when you're switching from another rom or migrating to Snapshot branch from Nightly and vice versa. You don't need to wipe data when you update in the same release channe (this applies to 13.0 -> 14.1 upgrades too)
• Why no <insert miui feature here>?
• Because this is CyanogenMod
• Will you add <insert awesome feature here>?

short review
boot is faster than Hikari No Tenshi, default theme seem to be a bit darker than HnT at least in quick tiles, Last app through Menu button works fine, no wifi 5/2.4ghz switch (as in other CM14 builds), switching from full brightness in camera to previous brightness elsewhere seem to work OK, default vibration has normal intensity, not as strong as in HnT

new (untested) - lift to wake, power on sounds option, extra settings edge double tap (was in HnT build too actually), force allow apps on external, force activities to be resizeable

[ TUTORIAL ] Unlock Bootloader MI4C Tanpa Verifikasi Xiaomi

This evening I had the same problem like many of you and I just did not want to wait 2-3 weeks for the unlock code from Xiaomi. I went through a lot of threads and different forums to create this guide.

Requirements
- ADB up and running (I am an Android developer, so I have this installed already - unsure if you need specific ADB drivers for Xiaomi devices though)
- Xiaomi MI4c
- MiFlash: http://bigota.d.miui.com/tools/MiPhone20151028.exe (via http://en.miui.com/a-234.html) - Install
- Mi4c Image: libra_images_6.1.7_20151221.0000.11_5.1_cn_b09dac7 0a0.tgz - unpack until "images" directory is visible!

Step-by-step

Step 1 is optional: I was not sure, if I could use the "fastboot oem edl" command in a higher version of MIUI... feedback required. Thus following is a list of known Xiaomi ROMs which support this procedure:
If you are using one of the following ROM versions, you should be able to unlock the device easily with the provided guide. However, I have messages that the versions don't work with higher MIUI ROM versions.

1. (Optional) Downgrade your Mi4c by flashing any image from the list above via the "Updater" app (use top right icon to select image).
2. Reboot into fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down) until you see the MIUI rabbit and "FASTBOOT"
3. Command: fastboot oem edl (this brings your device in a kind of emergency recovery state) -> the device does only show a black screen. Do the next step.
4. Use MiFlash to flash 6.1.7 image (Browse -> select the "images" directory of the 6.1.7 package and start flashing)
5. When completed, reboot the phone by holding the Power button long (~8s)
6. Wait until 6.1.7 is completely loaded (this may take a while)
7. Reboot into fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down)
8. Command: fastboot oem unlock -> at this point you should have an unlocked bootloader
9. Now optionally install TWRP and subsequently CM 12.1 and enjoy (see respective linkes in the requirements for a howto) - TWRP: fastboot flash recovery <twrp>.img

Introduction
There are some myths and misbeliefs around unlocking the Xiaomi Mi 5. And as I got lucky and got my Mi 5 early and unlocked it, I will share some screenshots as well as my opinion on this matter. 


What shall I do? How to increase my chances?
Right now there is no custom ROM, and if you want root access, you can get it through the Security App of MIUI. So that means you can spend the next weeks to become a Diamond member on the forum, post a bit everyday and you get it fast. As Diamond members on the MIUI forum are whitelisted, it will increase your chances.

[GUIDE] Tutorial untuk Install Official Cyanogenmod 13 di Xiaomi MI5 ( By Captain_Obviyus )

First : Warning !!!

Each step of the guide REQUIRES you to have completed the step prior to that one for it to work. For example, you can't go installing TWRP on your device without unlocking the bootloader first.


Prerequisites:

1. Xiaomi Mi5
2. TWRP for Mi5 by Cofface
3. Latest Cyanogenmod 13 Nightly Build
4. You can follow this guide to see how to install ADB on your system.
5. OpenGApps. I suggest you download the micro package.

Let's get started:

1. Unlocking the Bootloader:
   The first thing any Mi5 owner NEEDS to do is to unlock their bootloader.Here is a great guide for unlocking the bootloader of the Mi5 (or any Xiaomi device for that matter) by TheUltrametricSpace. It's much better than anything I can make. So before you do anything go here and unlock the bootloader.
2. Installing TWRP:
   When I use the Official TWRP from here, my touchscreen doesn't work. I haven't a found a solution yet. If any of you know how to fix this then please post it down below. If it works out I'll put it up in this guide. For now, we'll use TWRP by Cofface for Mi5. So far this is the only TWRP that seems to work for me.
   

   1. You're most likely coming from MIUI 8 and thus, running Marshmallow. I'm not sure but there is some sort of encryption that Google has put in so you cannot use TWRP to flash your .zips from Internal Storage. So before you go any further, backup your files/apps or anything you might need.
   2. Go to the platform-tools folder and extract the .rar file that you downloaded earlier containing TWRP there.
   3. Rename the .img file extarcted from the TWRP .rar to twrp.img
   4. Run the CMD shortcut you pasted in the ADB folder from the guide above as an administrator.
   5. Connect you Mi5 to your computer. Hold both the Power and Volume Down button to boot into the bootloader. You should see this image.
   6. [At this point, you MUST have fastboot.exe and twrp.img inside the platform-tools folder.
   7. Now go back to the CMD window you opened. Type in the follwoing:

      Press enter. You should see your device in the window after typing this.
      

      Code:

      fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

      Press enter. On the command window you should see a few lines popup and at the end it will show time taken to complete operation. So far so good.
      

      Code:

      adb reboot recovery

      Press enter. You should now see the TWRP flash screen.

   8. If TWRP is in Chinese, worry not.

      
      
      Tap on the second box to select language. Scroll down and select English.

   9. Swipe to allow modifications.
   10. You should be in TWRP now.
       
       DO NOT BOOT OUT OF TWRP RIGHT NOW.

3. Installing Cyanogenmod 13:
   Of all the ROMs that I have used, I find that CM13 is far better. It's mostly personal preference. If you want to install any other ROM, the process is more or less exactly the same. Follow the instructions below:
   

   1. Tap on Wipe.
   2. Tap on Advanced Wipe.
   3. Select everything except USB-OTG.
   4. Swipe to Wipe.
   5. Go back to the main TWRP screen.
   6. Tap on Mount.
   7. Tap on Enable MTP.
   8. Connect your phone to your computer via USB.
   9. Copy cm-13.0-20161022-NIGHTLY-gemini.zip and open_gapps-arm64-6.0-micro-20161025.zip from your computer to the Internal Storage folder inside Mi5 in My Computer.
   10. Come back to TWRP.
   11. Tap on Install.
   12. Scroll down and find the cm-13.0-20161022-NIGHTLY-gemini.zip file and tap on it. Installation will start and will take about a minute and a half.
   13. Now come back and flash the open_gapps-arm64-6.0-micro-20161025.zip file. This should be much faster.
   14. Now go back to the Wipe section and select only the Dalvik & cache.
   15. Now press Reboot System.

4. And that's it. The first boot will take quite some time. You're running Cyanogenmod 13 now!

Optional:
You can also install Falcon Kernel by Harrynowl to get a few more extra features. Install it like you would Cyanogenmod by flashing the .zip.
